Nintendo only had a partnership with RARE owning 49% of RARE stock (they never actually owned RARE). RARE also owned Conker as it was their character from the old Game Boy Color days he shows up in Diddy Kong Racing for this reason. They also held the publishing rights to Diddy Kong Racing. RARE was the developer for both the Banjo-Kazooie series as well as the Donkey Kong SNES / N64 series. How does RARE and Microsoft own the characters Banjo (Banjo Kazooie) and Conker (Conker's Bad Fur Day), and their respective franchises, despite the fact they both made their début in Diddy Kong Racing thus making them a part of the Super Mario franchise? ![]()
